Celtic Woman is a female vocal ensemble that performs a mix of Celtic, new age, and adult contemporary music. Often compared to such artists as Clannad , Enya , and Loreena McKennitt , Celtic Woman first rose to acclaim with an energetic stage show that had much in common with similarly minded productions like Riverdance whose music director, David Downes , was the driving force behind Celtic Woman 's formation in Although intended to be the group's only release, the album climbed to the top of the Billboard World Albums chart and stayed there for a record-setting 81 weeks, thus setting the stage for Celtic Woman 's long career. Celtic Woman began touring heavily, sometimes logging as many as 35 weeks a year on the road. While a series of PBS specials ensured that the ladies remained on America's TV screens, additional album releases helped them remain on the charts.
All the top diplomatic missions, embassies and ambassador's homes are located close to the hub of Ballsbridge and so it was that all the diplomats got into a festive mood and gathered for the International Charity Bazaar last Saturday. The bazaar has long been a favourite on the social front because of the sheer diversity of fabulous gifts and food on offer and thousands of people thronged the RDS to 'experience the world in a day' and foods from 40 countries. The ICB was formed by the diplomatic corps in Ireland to raise funds for Irish-registered charities and in addition to their Bazaar they organise a diplomatic ball every May. Standing out in the crowd was the statuesque genial deputy lord mayor Jim O'Callaghan, who dropped in to lend his support. Norah Casey performed the raffle featuring some seriously covetable prizes including a rose gold diamond pendant from Boodles and return flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Wednesday's bad weather and incredibly dramatic, sudden dense fog did nothing to dampen my diary appointments.

Celtic women could enter a variety of professions, hold legal rights—especially in the area of marriage—and have rights of redress in case of sexual harassment and rape, the most famous of which was Boudicca. According to historian Peter Berresford Ellis, the early Celts had a sophisticated, unified law system. Women could govern and take prominent roles in political, religious, and artistic life, and even act as judges and lawgivers.
The Land of Sex and Sinners will reveal that some ancient Celtic warriors had sex with male comrades and sometimes engaged in threesomes. Among those whose sexuality will be explored is Cu Chulainn, the mythical hero of Ulster. Duggan has uncovered Roman historical accounts of such behaviour among Celtic men.
